2001 movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider It received a lot of negative reviews from critics and has a poor score of only 20% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite this, Angelina Jolie, who played the main character in the film, was praised for her performance and for trying something new.
However, Angelina Jolie was initially skeptical about playing Lara Croft because she felt she wouldn’t be able to pull the character off. Now, as her fans were about to be robbed of seeing her play the much-loved video game character, there was something that made her rethink her decision. What was it exactly, you may ask? Well, Angelina Jolie loves to travel and that’s what she’s going to do while shooting the movie. Thanks to the promises made by the team, Angelina Jolie was on board!

While Angelina Jolie understood that it was important for actors to do their own stunts because Tomb rider, She was initially unsure of following up on the movie. Speaking to Collider, Jolie mentioned that she doesn’t feel like the Lara Croft character fits her. However, when she found out the package came with world travel and training with the British Army, she gave the role a second thought.
I said, I didn’t really feel like this character fit me. I actually didn’t want to do that at first. I said no. But they said you could travel around the world and train with the British Army and so I had three months of seeing what I could do. I would encourage anyone to do that. Sign up as much as possible , give yourself a few months, push yourself to the limit and see, ‘What can I do?’ And you find there’s a lot you didn’t know and there are weird, crazy things you can do or you can do, so I love it.”
Well, that sounds like some solid advice! While it feels weird to imagine someone else playing Lara Croft other than Jolie, we can’t help but wonder what the movie would be like if Jolie decided to stick with her initial decision.

It seems that Angelina Jolie intimidated Megan Fox
After Jolie played Lara Croft in two movies (2001 and 2003), it was time for a reboot, and actress Alicia Vikander took on the role of Lara. However, there was a moment when Megan Fox was considered for the role before she turned it down. Fox cited creative differences as the reason for her refusal to be a part of Tomb rider. A little later, though, rumors circulated that Fox had turned down the role because she didn’t want to be compared to Jolie.
The New York Daily News reported, as an insider stated,
“Meghan has had the offer for a while but she reluctantly turns it down. She’s the logical choice to play Lara and she loves the character, but the comparison to Angelina is too much.”
Another source stated that Fox does not want to be “Poor Angelina Jolie.” It was fun watching Fox bring Lara Croft to life in her own special way. But well, there’s no use crying over spilled milk, right?
